Paul Brunett is a Virginia-based folk rock singer/songwriter who, amidst jazz undertones and syncopated guitar rhythms, combines traditional and electronic instruments with modern feel. His sound has been categorized as acoustic pop, new-folk, and jazz experimental while being overshadowed by the use of uncanny vocal melodies. Hailing from a melting pot of places and a menagerie of life experiences, his live performances provide rich emotional content with wild musical improvisations exploring a celebration of sound. Having shared the stage with a variety of talents, including legends like KANSAS, and THE TEMPTATIONS, PB's range of venues span intimate house concerts, wineries and festivals, colleges, universities, concert halls and pavilions. Live band performances include, PB (vocals, guitars, producer), Zachariah Cox (fretless electric and double bass,
background vocals), Byron Cage (Drums, percussion), Lew Taylor (piano, organ), Ryan Thomas (saxophones) and Kimberly Williams (saxophones, flute, trombone, various other instruments).
PB recently captured the essence of this live experience in the studio with, Chris Keup and Stewart Myers (producer/engineer; Jason Mraz, Lifehouse). Daniel Clarke (Ryan Adams, Dixie Chicks) made an appearance on keys, and JC Kuhl (Agents of Good Roots) lead the horn
section. The Single DRIVE will be available this spring on itunes.
We are almost ready to go to print. "A Different Kind of Motion," featuring the Single, DRIVE, with bonus tracks *Grace & *Songbird, will be available for download on itunes early this spring 2011. You can purchase a hard copy of the EP at live performances.
In November, we had the incredible oportunity to work with Stewart Myers and Chris Keup (Jason Mraz, Graham Colton, Rachel Yamagata, Johnathan Rice, Missy Higgins, O.A.R., and Amy Correia) at White Star Sound Studios (Louisa, VA) to cut a new single and revisit a couple of favorites.
Last June we packed up and headed west on a songwriting tour, spending two months performing in San Francisco's singer/songwriter scene, and then heading south, spending a month in Los Angeles, where we filmed a short video and performed at several showcases.
